Entangled

Throughout this body of work I am exploring what it means to be alive in shared spaces. The assumed separation between ‘wild’ and ‘man-made’ spaces fall away as all kinds of living beings navigate the same painted space. I began to see a kind of transformative power in challenging my inclination to define the edges between creatures, plants, and atmosphere—the individual creature becomes an environment for other forms of life. The human and non-human animals throughout this work are imagined elements of the spaces in which I have lived throughout my life. As the title of the show references, I am completely tangled up in their lives, experiences, actions, and emotions.
